Use of cookies and local storage

We use cookies on our website and use the local storage capacity of your browser in order to offer you maximum user convenience and to give our online portal an attractive structure for you in future.

Cookies are text files which are stored by the browser on your computer and include information about your usage of our website. For example, we use cookies to allow you to use the shopping list, by saving the selected products in the cookies. As a result, the wish list remains stored even if you close the pop-up window. Such session cookies lapse after 24 hours. In addition, we use so-called browser cookies, to remember your shopping basket when you shop via “ALDI liefert”, and to be able to display the contents of the shopping basket in a user-friendly manner during your visit. These browser cookies are deleted after you close the browser. We use other cookies for statistical purposes. These remain on your computer permanently if you do not delete them.

Tracking or personal cookies (see also below under “Retargeting”) are only stored when you explicitly accept them. Cookies can be reset or deactivated via your browser at any time. Please note, however, that turning cookies off may restrict your usage of the website, especially in the shopping list area.

Local storage is the local storage in your browser. We use local storage to temporarily save items that you have added to your virtual shopping list. The saved items will be automatically deleted once the items are no longer available on our website. You can also use our website without local storage without issue.

Retargeting

This website uses retargeting technologies, which allow us to target those Internet users who have shown particular interest in our website and our products with advertisements. Retargeting uses a cookie-based analysis of previous user behaviour to display advertising. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the website visitor’s internet browser. They make it possible to identify the Internet browser upon subsequent visits. Cookies store neither your IP address nor other data that would allow us to draw conclusions related to your person.

The technology we use therefore does not store any personal data. Retargeting technology is used in compliance with the applicable statutory data protection provisions.

You may deactivate the function that displays interest-related advertising if you do not wish to see such advertising. Because this website employs various retargeting systems, you will need to use each of the links below.

Privacy notice for ALDI liefert

Data protection is also very important to us when offering "ALDI liefert". We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We would like to outline in the following sections which data we collect, process and use, when you call up the pages of "ALDI liefert", when and for what purpose.

The legal bases for data protection can be found in the GDPR and the BDSG.

I.    What happens when you place an order with us?

Within the framework of the order processing in our online offer, we process the following personal data for the execution of the order (and, if applicable, also its rescission) of goods as well as for the simplified use of the online offer:

  • Salutation;
  • First name, last name;
  • Billing and delivery address;
  • E-mail address;
  • Transaction, order, invoice and customer identification number;
  • Method of payment;
  • Telephone number, if applicable (in the case of shipped goods).

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data for carrying out an order (and, if applicable, also its rescission) of goods is article 6 (1) (b) GDPR and article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests result from the need to validate addresses and maintain contact with you, the need for the proper handling of contractual supply relationships and the interest in further optimization of our offer.

If you have selected the credit card or PayPal payment method, we will forward you to the corresponding payment service provider (in the case of the credit card payment method currently: First Data GmbH, Marienbader Platz 1,61348 Bad Homburg v.d.H., in the case of the PayPal payment method to PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal L-2449 Luxemburg) after completion of the order. There, after entering your access data, you can order payment via the service provider. In order to process the payment, we transmit in particular the concrete payment amount to the selected payment service provider. Further information on the data processing carried out by the payment service providers can be found in the information texts on the payment service providers' website. There you will also find the contact information of the payment service providers (PayPal; contact address data protection: dpo@paypal.com; FirstData; contact details for data protection: DPO@firstdata.com).

We pass payment and order data on to a selected debtor service provider (BFS finance Münster GmbH) for the purpose of accounts receivable accounting.

In order to ensure that the goods are delivered according to your wishes, we transmit your order data (order details, first and last name, address, e-mail address and, if applicable, your telephone number) for the purpose of processing the purchase contract to service companies commissioned by us (these can be suppliers or logistics service providers), who then ensure delivery to the delivery address you have specified.

If you order goods from a forwarding agent, a logistics company will contact you prior to delivery to inform you of the delivery time or to agree details of the delivery with you. In this case, your personal data will be transmitted solely for this purpose.

II.    What happens to your personal data when you register as a customer via the customer account?

We offer you the permanent storage of your personal data in a password-protected customer account. The creation of the customer account is voluntary and takes place on the basis of your consent in accordance with article 6 (1)(a) GDPR. After setting up a customer account, no new data entry is required. All your personal data entered (name, address, e-mail address, delivery and billing address) will remain stored. You can view and change them at any time in your customer account.

In addition to the data requested when placing an order, you must enter a password of your own choice in order to set up a customer account. Together with your e-mail address, this password serves to access your customer account. Please treat your personal access data confidentially and do not make it available to unauthorized third parties. Please note that you will remain logged in automatically after leaving our website, unless you actively log out or clear your browser's cache.

You have the possibility to delete your customer account at any time. You can request the deletion of your customer account via the contact form. If you have not placed any orders, all of your personal data will be deleted. If you have placed orders, we will only retain the information of the contractual relationship required by commercial and tax law for the legally specified periods. The legal basis is the fulfilment of a legal obligation (article 6 (1) (c) GDPR).

III What personal data is processed by you if you place an order as a guest?

When ordering as a guest, no customer account is created for you. To carry out an order (and, if applicable, also its rescission), in other words, to complete the sales contract, the personal data listed in the above section I will be the personal data that is processed. Your data as a non-registered user will be deleted after 120 days. The legal basis is article 6(1)(b) GDPR, for the fulfilment of a contract. We exclusively keep the information of the contractual relationship required by commercial and tax law regulations for the legally determined periods. The legal basis is the fulfilment of a legal obligation on our part (article 6 (1) (c) GDPR).

IV.    What personal data is processed when you place an order as a newly registered customer?

If you place an order as a newly registered customer, an online customer account will only be created for you when you confirm and complete your registration by means of the confirmation e-mail. If you do not confirm your registration, your customer data will be deleted after 14 days. Your data will then only be processed in accordance with the above section III for the execution and processing of the order. If you confirm the registration, a corresponding customer account will be created and the instructions for the processing of your data listed under point III apply.

V.    What happens in case of warranty or returns?

To ensure a smooth warranty and returns process, we process the following personal data provided by you in the order process:

  • Salutation;
  • First name, last name;
  • Billing and delivery address;
  • E-mail address;
  • Transaction, order, invoice and customer identification number;
  • Method of payment;
  • Telephone number, if applicable.

No additional personal data will be collected from you. In the event that your personal data - with the exception of data to be retained for commercial and tax law reasons - has already been anonymized within the relevant period, your personal data will be requested again.

If necessary, we will make use of the competence of our contractual partners (suppliers and logistics partners) when processing returns or in warranty cases, to whom we will then also transfer your data for this purpose. The legal basis is article 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

VI. Data processing for marketing measures

If you participate in one of our marketing measures (e.g. customer surveys or satisfaction enquiries after an order), this is done on a purely voluntary basis. The legal basis for this is either given consent (article 6 (1) (a) GDPR) or legitimate interests (article 6 (1) (f) GDPR). In this respect, our legitimate interests follow from the need to improve and optimize our offer and to determine your satisfaction as a customer. The anonymization of this data will take place after 120 days.

Consent can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. The revocation does not affect the legality of the processing until revocation.

The results of our marketing measures are generally used for internal evaluations. Personal data will not be passed on by us to third parties, unless you have given your express consent to do so.

VII. Data processing when using the reminder service

"ALDI liefert" offers you a reminder service for promotional items selected by you. You have the option of being reminded of an offer by e-mail. The processing of your personal data is based on the consent you have given (article 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. The revocation does not affect the lawfulness of the processing until revocation.

To use the reminder service, you must first register your e-mail address. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail.

Your e-mail address will be stored in the registration database to provide the reminder service. The first e-mail address is stored in the registration database until you unsubscribe. By unsubscribing, you revoke your consent with effect for the future.

VIII.    How long do we store your data?

We store your data for as long as is necessary to achieve the processing purposes or to comply with statutory retention and storage periods.

Your data for the "ALDI liefert" customer account will be deleted upon request by you and stored until that time. In the event that you have not confirmed your registration, your data will be anonymized after 14 days. With the exception of the data to be stored for commercial and tax law reasons, the data for orders as a guest will be anonymized after 120 days.

After these deletion periods have expired, we only retain the data necessary in accordance with commercial and tax law regulations for the legally prescribed periods. The legal basis is the fulfilment of a legal obligation (article 6 (1) (c) GDPR).

If you delete all of your cookies in the web browser, you will have to revoke your consent to Facebook’s cookies again, if you wish to exclude them.

When and for what purposes do we collect, process and use your data?

Your data will be transmitted in encrypted form. This protects the communication between you and our web server and helps to prevent misuse of the data (bugging) by third parties. For encryption we use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a recognized and widespread system on the Internet, with which e.g. banks or online shops for Internet business also work and which is considered secure in its current version. Excluded from the encrypted transmission is the contact request for real estate objects.

All personal data collected, processed and used in the course of our website is collected, processed and used in accordance with the applicable provisions for the protection of personal data only for the purpose of the services you have commissioned and to process your enquiries. We commission service providers to process your enquiries and use our services. The service providers are contractually obliged to comply with this privacy policy. Only after your confirmation (click on the link) will you be added to the ALDI reminder service distribution list and you will receive the reminder automatically. When the subscriber unsubscribes using single opt-out, the e-mail address is also deleted from the subscriber database.
  • Customer enquiries: Enquiries are processed by the ALDI North customer service in ALDI Einkauf GmbH & Co. oHG or the regional company responsible for your place of residence.  In order to be able to respond to your request promptly and comprehensively, we also draw on the expertise of our regional companies in the ALDI North group, suppliers (especially in the event of complaints) and contractual partners. Adobe Analytics

This website uses the Adobe Analytics, a web analytics service. Adobe Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. This data can be used to create user profiles under a pseudonym, but the user profiles do not allow any conclusions about persons, as the IP address is anonymized.

Adobe Target uses cookies to enable the website to be displayed in a manner appropriate to the recipient. The information collected by the cookie enables us to tailor your next visit to the website to your interests. For example, customers who spent a long time in the "wine" section on their first visit to the ALDI website will see wine products on the homepage when they visit the website again. Furthermore, with the help of Adobe it is possible to find out how we can present the contents of our website in an appealing way by carrying out tests. Customers of test group A will see the ALDI logo in the upper left corner, while customers of test group B will see the logo on the right.

The information generated by the cookie is usually transferred to an Adobe server in the USA and stored there. Since we have activated IP anonymization on this website, the server settings we have made ensure that the IP address is anonymized before geolocation. The last octet of the IP address is replaced by zeros. Before saving the information generated by the cookie, the IP address is replaced by individual generic IP addresses. Adobe will use this information to evaluate your use of the website for us, to compile reports on the activity on the website, and to provide internet use related services to us.

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your internet browser, however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target. Please note, however, that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Adobe and the processing of this data by Adobe by opposing the collection and storage of data under the following link:

Please exclude me from data collection on this website for this Internet browser.

Uptrends Real User Monitoring

ALDI uses Uptrends Real User Monitoring to measure performance as experienced by the website visitor. Uptrends does not use cookies to collect data or track visitors to our website. Instead, Uptrends uses a small script file on our site that sends performance data for visitors to our website to Uptrends' servers. The information collected from each visitor includes IP addresses, device types, operating systems and browsers used. To protect the privacy of the website visitors, a version of the Uptrends script file is used in which the IP address is made anonymous before processing, so no personal data is processed. Uptrends' servers aggregate the performance data of all our website visitors and provide us with information that allows us to improve the user experience on the website based on the above information. Uptrends only uses the IP addresses of our website visitors to obtain information about the visitor's state or country, but nothing else. In addition, Uptrends stores IP addresses that are deleted after a few minutes at the latest and Uptrends does not track or share information about individual users with third parties.
